Entertain Sick Kids with a Cartoon Kleenex Craft

“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Kleenex but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #KleenexTarget  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO”

During cold and flu season, my kids and their runny noses seem to end up everywhere. I run around grabbing tissues, and my kids run away from me like I’m the tissue monster. Where do their running noses end up? Why on my furniture, of course. Every parent who has ever wiped a runny nose knows how this goes.

To combat green buggies, I created cartoon Kleenex boxes for each of my kids with cartoon faces on them.

For the cartoon Kleenex faces, I created three sets of eyes and mouths with different facial expressions.

If you or your kids would like to create a Kleenex head craft, I provided a template of the heads and the interchangable facial expressions. Just follow the instructions below to make one!

  • Kleenex brand Kleenex (here is a $1 off coupon) for a 4 pack or larger
  • newspaper
  • paint
  • glue gun
  • scissors
  • stapler
  • velcro
  • Kleenex Faces Template

  1. Download my Kleenex Faces template.
  2. Cut out Kleenex face.
  3. Fold over newspaper {I used two sections of the paper to make them thick and durable} and cut out the face using my template.
  4. Staple sides and bottom only, make sure to leave an opening at the top {see first picture below}.
  5. Paint {I used acrylic paint, tempra paint flakes}.
  6. Print my template on card stock for durablility, laminate for more durability.
  7. Cut out template facial expression pieces, use my color versions or color you own, they are also available in black and white.
  8. Attach velcro with glue gun {second picture below} to the face and to the pieces.
  9. Glue kleenex face to Kleenex brand box.
  10. Have the kids switch out the pieces!

My son organized the faces on the table: happy, sick, and laughing. We stored the extra face pieces between the newspaper of the Kleenex face. You can also put Kleenex in this part to make wild hair! I think it encourage my kids to grab a Kleenex when their noses are runny.

Be sure to grab your $1 off Kleenex coupon for a four pack or larger!

I hope boogies don’t find their way to your couch this cold and flu year!

Meet the Teachers

Meet the Teachers

Back when we were both teaching, we dreamed of a website that would make lesson planning easier. We both remember late nights scouring search engine for unit ideas. After searching 1000s of blogs and sites, nothing was exactly meeting our vision: creative resources for the overworked teacher or homeschooler! So…this was born.
