It’s almost February and I had to dig up the kids Valentine’s Day books. We read, The Day it Rained Hearts and Happy Valentine’s Day Mouse. After I read to them, I started to think about a craft the kids could create for Valentine’s Day for their dad and grandparents. We created a Valentine’s Day handprint art keepsake, something instead of the usual Valentine’s Day card. Here is how it turned out…
- paint- red, white, pink- any colors, really, that tickle your fancy
- textured cardstock
- pencil with eraser
- scissors
- glue stick
- flat tray
- picture frame with matt
- little hands
- I have two children. With a pencil I drew and cut out two hearts, one for each child’s hand.
- I arranged them on green cardstock and placed my matt on top to make sure everything fit in it.
- I painted the kids hand {I used acrylic paint} and they stamped them into the hearts.
- I let the handprints dry and then I glued the hearts on the green cardstock.
- My son wrote “LOVE” on the cardstock {picture below}.
- I cut and glued two additional pink hearts to complete the picture.
My favorite part of this keepsake is when my son asked how to spell the word love and then he wrote it on the picture.
Here is what it looks like mattless and unframed.
