After the great response to our last making words freebie for Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d make another one to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Aside from read-aloud, making words ranks among the highest of my favorite classroom activities.
For those of you new to teaching, making words is an incredible literacy activity that is truly multi-leveled. I’ve used making words activities with high-level kinders and struggling fourth graders, so the range of ages varies.
Rather than simply filling in worksheets, students manipulate the letter tiles to build words. You’ll be seeing far more making words activities from us in the future, so stay tuned!
The mystery word is shamrock!
