This post is part of the Random Acts of Kindness Campaign, sponsored by Consumer Crafts.
Before we know it, winter is going to roar in! There is no better craft to create for winter than snowflakes. As a random act of kindness, I created these lighthearted snowflakes for my son’s teacher.
Most teachers spend their own money for classroom supplies. My son’s teacher works incredibly hard to ensure that her classroom is an inviting, inspiring, and safe place for her students to learn. It makes me feel good that she cares so much about her students.
With that in mind, I chose my son’s teacher as the recipient of this random act of kindness as a part of Consumer Craft’s Random Acts of Kindness campaign. Sometimes with all the paper grading, testing, meetings, and lesson planning, often decorating is the last thing on a teacher’s mind. That’s why I created whimsical snowflakes in winter colors as a gift to my son’s teacher to brighten up her classroom.
My supplies came from Consumer Crafts and I linked to the page where you can purchase each product.
- Darice 12 x 12 card stock
- Sew Easy Piercer Scallop tool
- Sew Easy Fancy Floss
- scissors
- gluestick
- white paper {in many different sizes}
- Create snow flakes {see first picture below}
- Glue to Darice 12×12 card stock
- Cut out around the snowflakes leaving a 1/2 or 1/4 inch border of the Darice card stock
- Use the Sew Easy Piercer Scallop pattern to pierce holes in the paper to create a pattern {see my picture of snowflakes below}
- Thread the Sew Easy Floss through the pattern you created with the Sew Easy Scallop Piercer
- Create Let It Snow sign {print it, or write it}
- Use kids craft edger scissors
- Laminate for durability
- Hang in your classroom or home-on a door or closet!
- Fold paper the long way
- Fold side up
- Turn paper over and fold other side up
- Fold in half
- Cut out snowflake shape
I hung the snowflakes by her classroom door with a “Let It Snow Sign.” I printed the sign on my computer, glued it to the card stock, and cut around the “Let It Snow” sign with kids craft edger scissors.
My son’s classmates are going to create their own snowflakes to add to the display! These would also look great on closet doors, a bulletin board or hanging from the ceiling.
