Free Printable Dental Health Month Activity for Kids

Considering the average human life span is 70 plus years, so needs to be the lifespan of our teeth!  With Dental Health Month looming, I created a great activity about food choices.  The best time to instill good dental health care like prevention, good food choices, and dental hygiene habits is in childhood.

To help establish these habits, I created a free printable dental health month activity that covers: foods that are good for our teeth and foods that are bad for our teeth. This activity helps young thinkers choose good foods for their teeth.

  1. To spark my son’s interest I headed straight for our animal books about teeth. We read two books, my favorite Let’s Look at Animal Teeth by Wendy Perkins {she highlights with close up images of how different animals use their teeth for different reasons} and What if you had Animal Teeth by Sandra Markle. These really are two great reads to kick start this activity.
  2. We talked about how we use our teeth and how we take care of them.
  3. I had my son look through magazines to gather images of food.
  4. Then we sorted them into two categories: good for our teeth or bad for our teeth.
  5. He cut and pasted the images on the free printables I have provided you below.

This is a wonderful idea for little ones in school or an at home project. Learning how to care for their teeth with proper diet choices is so important.

Meet the Teachers

Meet the Teachers

Back when we were both teaching, we dreamed of a website that would make lesson planning easier. We both remember late nights scouring search engine for unit ideas. After searching 1000s of blogs and sites, nothing was exactly meeting our vision: creative resources for the overworked teacher or homeschooler! So…this was born.
