To ensure my son is not just reciting numbers sequentially without a deeper understanding of numeracy, I created a math station of arctic animals as a one to one correspondence activity. I knew he would be all about it because it incorporates two of his favorite things: animals and anything related to winter. As a mom, I like that it is a Montessori-style counting pyramid of arctic animal pictures!
I hand-illustrated the arctic animals. My son’s favorite is the puffin. In the picture below, he is counting to four with penguins. This math activity is available @ our TpT shop.
