Toward the end of last school year, my son’s teacher had her class do a project that I just had to share here: the “I Can Do It” Jar. My son loved thinking of all the things he could do like feed his dog, write his name, and read a book.
This activity makes perfect sense to do at the beginning of the school year. As children master their goals in their classrooms and homeschools over the course of the school year, they can fill their jars with affirmations of all they CAN do.
What I like about this activity is that the ” I Can Do It” jar is something that the child uses to measure their own success while maintaining a positive focus. Their goals can be as simple as tie to their shoes to as elaborate as mastering all their multiplication tables!
- empty coffee can or canister
