Vocabulary Cards & Word Wall Ideas

Back when I was teaching first, second, and third grade, word walls were one of my favorite times of my literacy block.  My students adored it too.  We danced. Sang.  Stomped.  Used flashlights.  Played I spy.

Sigh.

Now, this is back before pinterest and teaching blogs when we were left to our own imaginations.

In my third grade remedial reading class, I had a Hollywood themed word wall.  In second grade, it was the ocean.  In first, my memory fails me.

Regardless, word walls are a critical component in ALL literacy programs.  When I taught 7th grade reading, I had an interactive Latin and Greek root word bulletin board.

Point being, word walls should be in every grade level!

After digging deep around the interwebs, I’ve found some amazing word walls for your classrooms and homeschools this year.  Plus, stay tuned…I’ll be making some for my homeschool this year!

Holiday Word Walls

Last year, I began creating thematic word walls to teach my sons about the holidays.  My oldest son has autism, and these were a tremendous boon to his vocabulary!  Here are the three I made:

Meet the Teachers

Meet the Teachers

Back when we were both teaching, we dreamed of a website that would make lesson planning easier. We both remember late nights scouring search engine for unit ideas. After searching 1000s of blogs and sites, nothing was exactly meeting our vision: creative resources for the overworked teacher or homeschooler! So…this was born.
